Get Help; Get Results

As an experienced educator and dyslexia intervention specialist, my priority is effective learning strategies that lead to measurable improvement in your child’s ability to read, spell and comprehend.

To fulfill that priority, I implement the Multisensory Reading and Spelling program designed specifically for tutoring middle school and high school students.  This research-driven, Orton-Gillingham based program has been developed and field-tested since 1986 by the Neuhaus Education Center in Houston, Texas.

Multisensory Reading and Spelling

An Orton-Gillingham based curriculum that is:

  • Explicit  - Concepts and skills are directly and thoroughly explained
  • Systematic - Speech sounds and the “whys” of spelling patterns and rules are clearly organized and presented.
  • Cumulative - Each lesson reviews materials previously covered. Then new knowledge and skills are built at a manageable pace.
  • Sequential and Incremental - Lessons progress logically and step-by-step.
  • Data Driven - Student progress is  monitored using pre-tests, post-tests and checks points throughout. Reviews and additional practice are incorporated as needed.

  Multisensory Reading and Spelling

helps students master key reading strategies, including:

  • Word attack skills for sounding out unknown or unfamiliar words
  • Reliable spelling and reading patterns
  • Improved reading fluency which supports comprehension
  • The six syllable types and the clues they provide for sounding out words
  • Accurate use of prefixes and suffixes which impact word meaning

One Student's Progress

Progress varies for each student. Here are actual results achieved by one middle school student who completed the Multisensory Reading and Spelling curriculum.
